Having fun at Ikea

Hey, guys! It has been a long week but a good one. I also forgot my journal today, so it will be a short weekly email, lol.

TUESDAY. April 30th: We had district council, and then we started an exchange with the zone leaders, Elders F. and G. I went to Chalandri with Elder G., and we had a ballin’ time doing finding and talking to loads of people on the street and asking them how their Easter was.

WEDNESDAY, May 1st: The metro was shut down due to Labor Day here, and so Elder G. had to drive us to Piraeus to finish up the exchange. That was sweet and also weird to be in a car with a missionary. I even got to back him up in the parking lot (am I a real missionary yet?). We met with three of our friends, and two of the lessons went pretty well.

Driving to Piraeus was lit!!

THURSDAY, May 2nd: We met with a man that Elders F. and F. had found during the exchange. He was an hour late, but we had a great discussion with him, and he even brought his Book of Mormon. He is atheist but very interested to learn about what we believe. He says that we have a light around us that makes us different than other people who he sees. We had a whiteboard in Peristeri with the Egaleo trio, and Elder H. and I got stuck in an hour long conversation with a man who was just telling us how we should only read the Bible and how the Book of Mormon isn't true because the names of the prophets mentioned in it are not found in the Bible. It is pretty easy to not become frustrated if somebody simply disagrees or even shouts and hates you or attacks your testimony, that's alright, but when people have no logic to their arguments and contradict themselves, it becomes frustrating.

FRIDAY, May 3rd: We had Weekly Planning and then one of the best whiteboards, if not the busiest whiteboards, I have ever been to. It definitely had the most answers by far. We went to a square with the Agios Dimitrios elders (G. and I.), and it was sick. It was all people ages 12-25 and was so much fun. I had a great conversation with two kids whose friend spoke to Elder G. for like an hour or an hour and a half. It was amazing.

SATURDAY, May 4th: We were unfortunately inside for much of the day due to taking a nap (Don't worry, we have a summer schedule where we can be outside an hour later, and then the next day you take a nap), but we went to Family Home Evening after being bailed on by a guy who wanted a copy of the Book of Mormon.

On our way home from Family Home Evening, I was feeling like we really hadn't been very productive that day, but Heavenly Father always blesses us when we really need it! In the metro, we struck up a conversation with a lady about the SEVENTEEN minute wait time for the metro, and she was absolutely amazing. She accepted a copy of the Book of Mormon, and we taught her on the metro all the way from church until her stop. One of our soon-to-be baptized members was standing next to us in the train and invited her to church as she was getting off of the train. She didn't end up coming but was happy to give us her phone number and said we should call if we need any information about Athens. It sounds simple, but this experience really was one of the coolest on my mission. The lesson was powerful, and she was elect.

SUNDAY, May 5th: We had, let’s say, an interesting church experience. We didn't have anyone attend church this week, but our friend explained why he doesn't feel comfortable coming yet, and it is just wonderful to have someone be so honest and open with you. We had a whiteboard in Syntagma in the evening, and it went decently well—definitely could have gone better though.

MONDAY, May 6th: We went to Ikea! It was cool, and the food was super cheap and delicious. The only bad part was the one-hour travel time both ways waiting for the bus here...Oh, I also got my haircut today!

Look at those smiles and empty plates!

Have a great week, and don't forget that TRUTH IS NOT RELATIVE. It is eternal. By definition, truth is something that is always true. Stop this train of moral relativism! It is honestly one of the most sly and terrible ways that Satan steers people down wandering paths. Review talks by Elder Christofferson about this topic for study this week because it is honestly exhausting speaking to people who think this way [Editor's note: I suggest "Truth Endures"].

We are losing our grip on reality by searching beyond the mark. Never before have we seen people caught up in the wisdom of men. Just stop it. Stop and educate those around you. This relativism is like a plague that will continue to spread if not impeded by proper teachings at home.
