Cloudy Nicosia

Cloudy Nicosia

Yo, guys, so I got transfer calls, and I am moving to Athens (specifically, the neighborhood of Kato Patisia) and will be with Elder C. We will be district leaders together!

TUESDAY, January 15th: We went to Caritas and had an interesting conversation with the guy who runs the place. I had given him an Articles of Faith card the week before, and we followed up with him just as we were leaving. He had some questions and disagreements, and we are planning on answering those tomorrow.

WEDNESDAY, January 16th: We had a lesson with our friend C. in the morning, and that went really well. We were able to all stay focused this time and not get carried away in his amazing stories! We saw G., and he is doing very, very well. We are hoping for a baptismal date with him very soon.

THURSDAY, January 17th: We went to the village and had a lesson with A., which went extremely well. Her understanding is amazing, and she asks such good questions. She has commitments at the church which she attends currently but will hopefully be attending ours sometime soon. We saw D. and the squad and taught the Plan of Salvation. Recent convert lessons are so important! They forget almost everything about the lesson but keep their testimonies!

FRIDAY, January 18th: We had a lesson with S. and D. That went well, and he will hopefully be excited to learn more. We saw M. and D. again, after a month of calling them with no reply. We gave their numbers to Elders J. and A-J., and they set up an appointment immediately. Sometimes it's handy to have a new phone number, lol. But yeah, that went well. We also saw D. that evening to talk about the fall of Adam and Eve. We had given him 2 Nephi 2 as his commitment, but he had accidentally written down 2 Nephi 22...which is 6 verses and a Psalm from Isaiah...so he was pretty confused as to "why we assigned that," lol. His mind was blown as we explained that the Fall was not an accident and that God knew it would happen. At the end of the lesson, he said that everything makes sense, but he will ask God if it is true. #understandsthattheSpiritteachestruthandnotMan

SATURDAY, January 19th: I had a Greek conversation with a guy named T. who wants to meet us tomorrow at 4 pm. The only problem is he didn't want to give us his phone number and my transfer date got moved from Wednesday to Tuesday....so I won't be there, lol. I said goodbye to G., N., S., and D. I will miss my Nepalis. :(

We were biking to C.'s house when Elder H.’s bike broke...again. So, we had to power walk and meet Elder Fleming who brought the bike rack and then gave us a ride around the corner to C.'s place. We had set up this appointment so that we could teach him AND his wife and 6-year-old daughter. He speaks fluent English and Romanian, but his wife and daughter only speak Romanian and Greek. So, it was a fun Plan of Salvation/Begin Teaching lesson with lots of teaching and translating in all three languages. I was so happy to see that his wife has a lot of interest as well, and they know it is good for their daughter. The gospel truly does bless individuals and especially families. They had us stay after the lesson and have Romanian soup (which was amazing), and C. gave us a ride to our next appointment. It was one of the coolest opportunities of my mission, to teach a family who has interest, in Greek.

SUNDAY, January 20th: We had lots of people come to church to say goodbye, and I gave a talk about "Pondering the Feelings of Others as a Key to Obtaining Charity." It didn't go as smoothly as I would have liked. We got bailed on aaaall day long by people, and I just missed being able to say goodbye to J. She had just gotten on the bus because she had been waiting and gotten cold. So, she took the bus right as we were getting there. A sad wave through a bus window was the last goodbye. :(

We had a last feast with R. and L. and all the other elders. We have soooo much food at the apartment now.

So yeah, that was my week. I love you, guys. Wish me luck in the land of Gyros and Street Wok!!!
