Brats and Brownies

Monday, February 11, 2019

Hey, guys!

TUESDAY, February 5th: We had district council, and it was cool to see all of the random stuff that Elder C. and I had discussed come together in one great whole...."like a rope" - Elder F., 2019. Elder C. taught math to our friend again, and we went to her house this time. It turns out her family and she are all Christian. The Lord works in mysterious ways. Hopefully, they will accept our invitation tomorrow to learn more about what we do.

WEDNESDAY, February 6th: We helped at the Salvation Army again and then went to the Friendship Center. Before we got to the Friendship Center, we stopped to get something to eat at a gyro shop. We sat down, and there were these four old Greek guys who were arguing. For about three minutes, two of them were screaming at each other, and then one got up to leave. Still arguing, he started walking away, stopped, and came back to keep yelling. He then spat in the guy’s face and walked out. It was lunch AND a show!!!!

It was hailing and pouring outside, but we still got over to an appointment with our friend A. He is insane, man. We practically ran out of his house at the end of the appointment. But, we have to go over again this week for something .  We had a good lesson with a guy from the Congo about the Book of Mormon.

THURSDAY, February 7th: We needed to go to the Friendship Center so Elder C. and Elder N. could make an Italian course and a Greek course for the Center. So, I ended up teaching Greek for two hours straight. It was good because I blew their minds with future simple, continuous, past simple, and past continuous. We used our meal time to print off some pictures at Public, but the photo printer first ran out of paper and then ran out of ink! What the heck, Public?!

I also discovered that smart watches are amazing, and I totally want one...that or Elder C. has just succeeded in brainwashing me. We had a lesson with our friend from Ethiopia, and he brought his friend who used to take lessons but got dropped because we were never able to get a hold of him. Well this lesson, he accepted a baptismal date as well! They are both going for March 2nd!!!! Our first friend, E., started reading the Book of Mormon a month ago and is in Mosiah 26! We did a whiteboard in Piraeus, and it went decently well. We asked what “Authentic Joy” is, and a girl wrote "God's Promises!!" #golden

White Board Activity

FRIDAY, February 8th: We taught at the Friendship Center, and once again I taught two classes. We had lunch with a less-active member and the Piraeus elders (F. and N.) and then went with another member for mega gyros. I got a normal sized one but still wanted to throw up. Then, we ran to another appointment, and Elder C. taught in French.

SATURDAY, February 9th: We played football with a load of friends, less-active members, and active members. It was a great activity. After that, I went with Elder F. to good ol' Piraeus and got to experience the city outside of Athens really for the first time. The exchange went well, and we managed to get kicked out of an apartment building by a neighbor of a less-active member, teach four lessons, and get thirteen contacts within 25 minutes of whiteboarding—miracles, lads, miracles. Also, the gyros in Piraeus are huge and delicious.

SUNDAY, February 10th: I got to experience church in full Greek for the first time, so that was cool. Elders Quorum was an indescribable experience, haha. We had lunch at the Andersons’ home. They are an embassy couple and fed us brats and brownies. We died seeing an American pantry with all the stuff from home. Lunch was complete with Dr. Pepper, Canada Dry, and Ghirardelli brownies. They let us take soda and Goldfish home, lol. We did music finding in the evening and then crashed at home.

MONDAY, February 11th: Today, we stayed inside all day, and I deep cleaned every room in the apartment for like four hours. It was awesome. But, I forgot to take a nap that I most definitely needed...so now I am paying that price.

I love you all and hope you have a great week!
