Elder Muller's favorite! She's a doll! |
Hey,
guys! It has been another week in Athens.
TUESDAY, February 12th: We had
District Council, and it went really well. The unity between Elder C. and me
helps a lot, I think. I went on an exchange right after the council with Elder R.
It was a great day of exploring the north side of Athens. We were asking
everyone we met how to find an address, lol, and also what the most important
thing in their life is. We met so many people, and they were all willing to
talk to us, and it was awesome! We only had one lady get angry at us, but we
didn't even approach her; she came up to us! The guy we were looking for didn't
answer, but we got to take the train and met so many cool people. We had a
meeting in the evening and had Mexican food for dinner.
WEDNESDAY, February 13th: We had an
interesting morning, lol, and went to the Friendship Center to teach there. We
had to run to the Egaleo apartment with the Zone Leaders because Elders Z. and B.
accidentally left a loaf of garlic bread in the oven, lol. We exchanged back,
and Elder C. and I had gyros for lunch before heading to our friend A. He told
us more about what he believes...apparently according to A., the 12 apostles
were never people, neither was Abraham or anyone else in the Bible. They were
all symbols of time periods and different characteristics so that was
interesting [Editor's note: These opinions are contrary to the beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. See here for more about what we believe about the Holy Bible and its divine role as scripture.].
THURSDAY, February 14th: We had a
lesson with Sisters M. and K. for a hand off. We met with a guy from Pakistan
at McDonald's and contacted a guy right outside while we were waiting for them
to get there. Turns out, he used to know the missionaries a couple years ago
and knows a lot about the church. He gave us his card, and that was sick! The
lesson went well, and those fries were delicious. ;) We had a meal appointment
with Elders Z. and B. at a member's home, and their son was playing PUBG on the
iPad. It was awesome, lol, and weird. The food was really good. We went
from there immediately to church to have ANOTHER dinner provided by a member
for all the missionaries. It was a successful singles’ awareness day. (Also known as Valentine's Day!)
FRIDAY, February 15th: We went to the
Friendship Center and taught languages again. We invited one of our students to
come to the Family Home Evening we were having at the church on Saturday
evening and to church. He came! Unfortunately, he doesn't live in our area, but
he is going to be meeting with the elders, and I am super happy. He is such a
nice guy. We did Weekly Planning and went with the sisters to visit a lady at a
cafe. Turns out, she wasn't there, but the two workers were chilllllllll. Elder
C. and the sisters had a great conversation with them while I dealt with the
old bitter guy at the bar who really wanted to speak to us... :)
SATURDAY, February 16th: We played
football and ate gyros with Elders N. and N. We then had a lesson with a man
from Nigeria named V. HE IS SO PREPARED, OH MY DAYS! At the end of the lesson,
we gave him the Book of Mormon, and he asked us to please come meet him and his
family at his home so he can learn more. In my head, I was like,
"What? Are you kidding?" That doesn't really happen very often here.
We had Family Home Evening at the church as well that night.
SUNDAY, February 17th: I had to
translate a talk from the pulpit from English into Greek. Luckily, most of the
talk was from a conference talk so I could just read the Greek
translation. I didn't do so hot with the off-the-cuff stuff. But on the plus
side, I now know the word for parachute... -_- Who would have thought you would
need that word, huh? We met with our friend G. He had gone to lds.org and
looked up more stuff about the church and started asking questions. As much as
we wanted to start teaching, something held us back from going in. The Spirit is really cool like that. Sometimes what seems like a perfect opportunity just
isn't the right moment. We had an amazing whiteboard with a LOT of
success.
MONDAY, February 18th: We went
bowling with everyone in Athens. The Piraeus missionaries didn't come though ;)
(love you lads<3). That's about it. Love you guys.
