SQUAD

Monday, November 5, 2018

So, guys, this week has been full of the Spirit and mighty miracles!!! People are so prepared!!!

TUESDAY, October 30th: We went to deliver a Book of Mormon to a friend, and his roommate was there. They are Pentecostal and so they were asking us about the Gift of Tongues. They were both pretty hostile at first. But after an hour, we got the roommate on our side after explaining the verses in the Bible in context and along with the Book of Mormon. His friend had to leave during the best part and returned at the end of the discussion, so he didn't fully understand. But, it was mint to see the Spirit testify and also see this guy’s humility completely change his view on something. We had a lesson with another friend, and it went really well.

WEDNESDAY, October 31st: We had service from 8AM until 2PM out in the sun and repaired a roof with concrete.  I was pretty wrecked after service, and Elder H. gave me a pretty mint priesthood blessing.

THURSDAY, November 1st: We had a lesson with our pastor friend that just got to Cyprus as a refugee. He told us for an hour about his crazy past stories (from the frenzied mind of a mega church pastor), all of which I guarantee are not true. But, he accepted the Book of Mormon and prophets and also explained to us how the Ethiopians have the Ark of the Covenant and the scriptures written by David. So yeah...We had a crazy good lesson with the SQUAD. One of them told us that he had a dream that he was in a church and when he found the sign, it was ours; another told us that he "feels the church inside me" and wanted to know if he needed to be re-baptized in order to become a full member of the church, and the other guy is hopefully telling us tonight if he will be baptized. The Spirit during our lessons with the Squad is absolutely amazing. They have gone through so much but still have faith and trust in God and Jesus.

Dinner with the "Squad"!

FRIDAY, November 2nd: Our whole day was pretty wrecked...my bike had a flat tire in the morning, so we had to walk the bikes into the town center and drop them off at the shop. Then, we went back to Caritas, and the people remembered me!!! We got signed up to volunteer there again, which I am very excited about. We got our bikes back in the evening and went to the Olympia Elders' apartment to pump out phone calls to numbers we got from District Music Finding. Then, we all went to have a fufu party at the SQUAD's place and with R. So, Bryan, now I do know fufu... [Bryan Müller, Elder Müller’s older brother, served in the Belgium/Netherlands Mission and often had fufu with the people he taught there.]

SATURDAY, November 3rd: We had coordination meeting with just us and the other elders. I made lunch for everybody after that—pasta and homemade sauce. ;) Elders J. and F. will make a chef out of me yet. We had a lesson with a friend, but he needed to leave halfway through because he got a phone call about a house he may be able to get. We went to go visit an old friend of the missionaries all the way on the north-west end of the city right on the Green Line (the border between Cyprus and the Turkish Occupied Side). She and her husband are really nice, and we had a great chat with them. She said I speak really good Greek....so you can tell her hearing probably isn't the best, lol. We went to an appointment with the same two guys who we spoke to about the Gift of Tongues. They weren't there, but their roommate was. So, guess who got taught the Restoration, lol? Right towards the end of the lesson, the two guys walked in with yet another roommate. They were late because of the bus. We spoke to them for 30 minutes about alcohol because we challenged them to ask us any question, lol. It was a little 30-minute Bible study—sooooo cool!

SUNDAY, November 4th: Lads, grab your seat belts. We started sacrament meeting with more non-members than members. The SQUAD filled out a row, lads. We had an exchange for an hour with the other Elders so Elder J. and I could teach a Chinese family at church and the other guys could walk our friends to church from a nearby store. We had 34 people attending sacrament meeting. That is crazy high for Cyprus and especially Nicosia!!!!!! We had two non-member families there and five other investigators in church. MINT SABBATH, BOOOOYS!!! We had dinner with the Flemings, and Sister Fleming had PICKLES!!! You don't realize what you miss until it is right in front of you. We also did the Voice of the Lord survey, and I had two amazing conversations with people. Plus, a girl took a picture with me and the Book of Mormon to send to her mom in India! We had a second dinner with R. and L. And as always, we got stuffed.

Guys, the area is popping, and we are working our butts off. Don't forget that American cereals are the greatest on earth!

Elder Müller is out!
