View from a member's home

Hey, everyone! It's been a quick week in Limassol, and we are looking at another busy one ahead. The area is great, and we have many little things that take up a lot of time. We are loving it and smashing it as always.

TUESDAY: We had a great district meeting here in Limassol, and it was great to see Elder M. and S. again. Elder M. told us stories from Athens while we were eating, haha. We love hearing all the news from the mainland, being stranded on this island as we are. ;) We met with a friend to speak again about the Cut Smoking Program we offer, but he doesn't really want to do anything besides pray and expect God to take away all desires to smoke.

WEDNESDAY: We had service at the Red Cross, which is always great. We practiced our musical number for Sunday and went on an adventure in the mountains. We were going with the senior couple to go visit a member who moved in a few months ago. She lives up in the mountains. We took a wrong turn and ended up 26 Kilometers from Troodos (I will let you look up where that is) [Editor’s note: 16.16 miles]. We eventually made it to her house after almost three hours in the car. I was glad I went pee before we left. The views from the member's home are incredible (pics included), and it was a good visit. We went to our friend's house for Bible study again and got to explain more about what our actual beliefs are.

THURSDAY: We visited a member's home to celebrate a birthday. We were able to do all the dishes for her! Elder V. and I seem to find a lot of opportunities to do dishes, and we love it! We saw a less-active member that night as well. I don't have anything else written down about this day besides we had a lot of sugar, and that didn't help our diet.

FRIDAY: We went to the Agapi Center to see if they needed help with their language classes. They don't, lol. Their teacher is great and really intense. She was blown away by Elder V.'s Greek. We had practice for our song on Sunday and went to see a friend and kick a ball around with him for a while. Unfortunately, I kicked a ball, and it hurt his fingers (he was goalie), so...oops. We saw our "Cypriot Parents," aka the two greatest people who live on the island. They own a store across the street from church. We always have a good time with them. They give us drinks and food and command us to relax—pretty much what my Mama did for over two years in Belgium with missionaries. They asked us where on earth we have been. We are so busy we hadn't had time to pop our head's in for a minute and say hi. We had dinner with a member, and it was soooo good: Cypriot BBQ

SATURDAY: We had correlation meeting with the Risers and talked about more Family History finding we can do. We dropped off a birthday card and chocolate for a girl in our branch and had a meeting with our Russian friend. He likes to teach us Russian, lol. With a little bit of help, I can read the Russian Restoration pamphlet, lol. He was very impressed how fast I picked it up. We had our weekly football match, and I embarrassed myself for another week in a row, lol.

SUNDAY: We had a stake conference broadcast instead of normal church. We had it in English in the chapel, and Elder V. and I went with our two Cypriot members and watched it in Greek in the other room. I understood enough to get by. It is definitely easier to understand the Greek rather than Cypriot. We performed our song for everyone (Paphos was there for the broadcast), and man, miracles are real. Our voices were raspy and gone when we were trying to warm up. When the performance came, we were able to hit those high notes. We had a munch and mingle afterwards, and it was good.  We met with another friend and introduced the Cut Smoking Program. He accepted it and really wants to stop. Also, I discovered I enjoy Cypriot cherries. We had a whiteboard with the Risers about Family History that went so-so.

That's about it, folks.
