Hey,
guys! It has been a #zeztyweek here in Limassol. All my Greek speakers out
there, give me a big laugh for the English/Greek play on words there! Yeah, I
know, clever!
TUESDAY: We had
District Meeting, sort of. The Paphos elders stayed in Paphos and met together,
while we met with the Zone Leaders at the Riser's apartment. District meeting
was watching the Be One Priesthood Celebration. We had lunch provided by Sister
Riser beforehand, and it was awesome. It was the most “chill” district meeting
of all time.
I had an exchange with
Elder F. after the meeting. It was our first exchange together, and we didn't
really know each other at all, so those are always interesting experiences. Luckily,
we hit it off really well and had a rocking exchange, with Greek class outside
by our friend's pizza place (no other male present with Elder Riser out of
commission, so we had to be outside) with the Chinese lady and also a new
Polish lady who was very suspicious of our classes, haha. It went well, but
they like to talk, and we were running late for an appointment. So, we ran.
Yeah, we ran from the church to the coffee shop our friend wanted to meet at.
Morning runs come in handy, guys. Our friend was then 25 minutes late...Elder F.
wasn't happy I made him run. We also had some time with our Cypriot member, N.
He got us some pizza, and then we went to check out a mini-bus for our branch
activity on Sunday. That night, I was sick from the pizza and was still sick
the next morning. I lost 2 kilos in one night though! I call it "a
cleanse."
WEDNESDAY: I woke up a
little ill from the pizza still, but it was a good day. We did service with our
friend M. at the Red Cross. He is a total lad, and Elder F. loves him, haha. I
wrote in my journal about how Elder F. wrote down a bunch of words from my
flashcards, lol. We stopped at a place called Bubble Tale on our way to the bus
stop. The sisters had a friend who worked there, and we met her! She is Greek,
and my gosh, Greek is beautiful—the language...I just realized that sounded
like an underhanded thing, haha. I understood her! It was awesome. We exchanged
back and visited A. and N., as well as G. and D. It was a great day.
THURSDAY: Adventure
Time! We left super early in the morning to go visit a member who lives in the
mountains/foothills. We brought the map book, and Elder V. made me lead. A long
time and gallons of sweat later, we were halfway there...Eventually, we made it
and had a visit with her. She cleans a mansion for a family, and the family was
on vacation, so we were able to see her! I had to walk up the last couple 80-degree
inclines...I also baked cookies this day.

FRIDAY: We did service
and were wrecked after the bike ride on Thursday. Our friend at the charity
shop told us about her crazy mom. Dang. We delivered cookies to a member and
had a lesson with our Bulgarian friend. We taught the Restoration. He wasn't
able to read the whole Book of Mormon
but did read 17 chapters! He's great. We had dinner with N., and I ate way too
much.
SATURDAY: We had a
slow start to the morning with some upset stomachs from the night before. I
wrote/drew a description of the Plan of Salvation for our Chinese friend. We
get a surprise call, and A. took us out to lunch for the best pancakes in the
world again. He wanted to do it before he leaves on vacation, Elder V. won't be
here when he gets back. We made some/strengthened some friendships at the pizza
place next to the church. And, we saw the Risers to have a short coordination
meeting. We got home, after what felt like a month (very long day), and the
washing machine had glitched again. So Elder V. pulled it out like we did last
time, so we could unplug it, and one of the hoses got a crack and started
spraying water everywhere. So, our kitchen flooded again. It was a suitable
ending for our day, haha.

SUNDAY: We went to
church and then got on a mini-bus as a branch and went to Troodos! We had a
tour from N. about Cyprus and had a blast on the bus as a branch. We took
pictures at the summit of MOUNT OLYMPUS...Cyprus [Editor’s note: The famous Mt.
Olympus is in Greece, but there is a mountain by the same name in Cyprus as
well.]. We went back down to the main square and had a picnic and did soap
carving, bonnet making, and a scavenger hunt. Once again, I ate too much. We
stopped at Omodos and saw a monastery and took some more pictures. Eventually,
we got back to the city and hit the hay!
The heat and humidity
here is insane! But, summer is almost halfway over, and we are trying to power
through it. IT'S BULKING SEASON. LET'S GO, LADS!
