I Can't Remember What Happened, LOL!

Monday, July 16, 2018

Hey, guys! So, I am having a lazy week, and so this will be a short one probably, lol.

It's funny because I received many emails this week about how much people enjoy the blog and the stories. Sorry to disappoint this week, guys!

TUESDAY: We went with Sister Riser in the morning in a taxi to the hospital to give Elder Riser a blessing before he had an operation on his spine. We were late back out to the taxi, which was waiting for us, but we ended up making friends with the taxi driver. We gave him a Greek Book of Mormon and got his phone number. We will hopefully meet up with him in the coming weeks. We had a good District Meeting in Paphos, speaking about problem-solving versus problem-finding. It went very well. It was the last one with the Sampsons. I will miss them but am excited to see them in Utah when I get back!

WEDNESDAY: We did service at the Red Cross as always and had a great time with our friend M. and had some good banter with him. We had a lesson with a member and went to go see the Cypriot parents. They were upset we hadn't been in for five days to say hello. So, we spent some time with them and apologized. We had a good Bible Study and explained the Bible once again.

THURSDAY: It was the first day since I have been a missionary that I forgot to write in my journal. When I sat down to write on Friday and realized I had forgotten, I was devastated. We were able to see our new friend U. and get his phone number. He's really funny and is from Pakistan. We had weekly planning and just some other small stuff to do.

FRIDAY: We had service at the charity shop and moved a bunch of their storage for them. We also had a great lesson with a new friend, T. He is from Bulgaria and is so awesome. He was dressed in nice clothes and brought his glasses so he could read The Book of Mormon in Bulgarian that we had for him. We sat down, and he just opened the book to the very first page and started reading. He read the whole prologue and the title page, as well as Moroni 10:3-5. He loved it, and he said he felt the truthfulness of the book already. He said he would read it in a week! We are excited about him and his willingness to learn! We had a good evening at the Riser's apartment with M. working on family history.

SATURDAY: We cleaned the church and had a coordination meeting with the Risers at their place. Elder Riser is still in bed recovering. Please keep him in your prayers. We spent time with N. and A. (the Cypriot parents) and played football in the evening.

SUNDAY: It was a crazy Sunday! We had two visitors from Utah that are here for two weeks on a business trip for Utah State University. We had 19 people in church as well! That is a lot!!!!  We did an audit with Brother M. from the District Presidency (former Branch President of the Paphos Branch), and we were running around all of second hour getting paperwork, pulling people out of classes to speak to them, and tons of other stuff. We had branch council after that and didn't end up leaving the church building until two hours after church ended. We had the opportunity to give Elder Riser the sacrament again, and that is always a meaningful experience, as well as give priesthood blessings to both of the Risers. The Spirit was strong there.

We ate gyros with the Risers today! It was their first time ever!

Have a great week, guys!
