The Best Football Coach in Cyprus

Missionaries are allowed to call home (or video chat) twice a year -  Christmas and Mother's Day. Sunday, May 13, 2018, we got to have a four way chat with Elder Muller. He was in Cyprus, his family home in Florida, his oldest sister and brother-in-law in Missouri, and his older brother in Rexburg, Idaho! It was wonderful to hear his voice, to see his smiling face, and to see and hear how happy he is working as a missionary in the Greece Athens Mission.

Our internet connection was a little fuzzy, but his oldest sister was still able to capture some great pictures of Elder Muller!

Hey, guys! I had a quick week.

TUESDAY: We had a district meeting in Larnaca and an exchange with Elder R. after. We came back to Nicosia and played football with some friends. We had a fun and productive exchange, and it was super weird to speak Greek and see how much we have grown since the MTC.

WEDNESDAY: We had two appointments with some friends who wanted to see Elder R. before he went back to Larnaca. We had Nepalese sweet rice for breakfast at a friend's house and taught prayer to another one. We had interviews with President Heder in Larnaca when we got there, and that went well. It is always great to see the Heders. When trying to catch the bus back to Nicosia, it didn't come, due to a Russian communist party parade on the road. So, we ate dinner at the church and caught a later bus home.

THURSDAY: We had Weekly Planning as usual, and we finally got called to do service at Caritas (Catholic charity for refugees). We went and made a friend there from Cameroon who wants to see us again and teach us about the history of his country. We just sat and watched a presentation about the dangers of tuberculosis. We had a dinner appointment with an American family here. We got there early, and so we rode around the neighborhood on our bikes. We turned the first corner and saw a guy we had been trying to friendship, and he actually lives right around the corner from the family. We didn't know that! That was pretty cool. Dinner was Papa John's pizza, which was good, and we had a great time. The two girls remind me of my sisters.

FRIDAY: We got up, got ready, and got to the bus stop super early in the morning. After a 2-hour bus ride later, I was back at home: PAPHOS! It was the weirdest feeling and honestly felt like I was going home. We stopped by and saw one of my old friends on the way to church. Zone conference was good, and I enjoyed it. It was strange having it in Paphos instead of Limassol. We had it in Paphos because after the conference, we played a football match against some Russians, Cypriots, and one American. Elder S. and I were the coaches (i.e. we can't play football, so we watched), and we made a change at half time and put Elder R. up front and Elder C. at back. We were up 3-1, and at the end of the second half, we won 11-1. Your boy is a pro coach!

SATURDAY: We cleaned the church and pretty much all of our plans fell through, but stuff kept coming up to do. We had a lesson with our friend about the Plan of Salvation. He had a lot of questions about what happens after we die, and we ran out of time before we could finish up the lesson. I also baked a cake, and it actually turned out very good.

SUNDAY: We had a lesson before church with a former investigator, which went well. We have another lesson next Sunday with him, and he said he would stay for church then. We had the Heders in church and then a lesson with our friend during second hour. We explained about what happened after we die, and he understands better now. We also had a new guy come to church for the first time. Sister Heder grabbed us, and we quickly taught the Restoration to him with Sister Heder. It was pretty awesome. Not much else happened except calling home. It was great to see everyone!

Love you all! Bye!!!
