Last One

Monday, September 9, 2019

Hey, guys! It's the last weekly email!

TUESDAY, September 3rd: We had district council and ate lunch at Skalakia (little tavern on some steps). We did Voice of the Lord survey while street contacting, and it went pretty well. We ate Ancho's with E., M., and R. and then did a whiteboard with them. Elder Z. pretty much handled the board and everyone else was having long conversations. The youth in Kifissia love the boards.

WEDNESDAY, September 4th: We at a McDonald's with S., and I bore my testimony about the Book of Mormon and how important church is. We met with G. (recent convert). We went to a Bible Study, and it was interesting. I am grateful that the Gift of the Holy Ghost is active on the earth and the priesthood authority to bestow that gift has been restored through the prophet Joseph Smith.

THURSDAY, September 5th: We taught at the Friendship Center and ate lunch with N. She's an absolute baller and asked questions about church, but as I was explaining, she said, "Wait, you're teaching me right now! This is how you get them!" It was pretty funny. We had a lesson with A., and it went well. We did a whiteboard in Marousi, and that was it.

FRIDAY, September 6th: We helped H. in the morning before working at the soup kitchen. We were short volunteers, and I was doing the jobs of three people: grabbing dishes, washing, rinsing, and at times, drying, plus refilling the water pitchers. I felt right at home back in the food service industry. We saw N. and A. We visited M., and we installed the Gospel Library for him. There were looooads of kids at the metro stop because it was the Day of Positive Energy. They have concerts and stuff at the old Olympic Center.

SATURDAY, September 7th: We had an incredible day. We had lesson with R., and it was amazing. Then, we saw K. and taught S. We read 2 Nephi 3 with S. so that he could start to understand the Restoration better and why Joseph Smith is important. We went to Ancho's again with E., M., and R. and did an absolutely amazing whiteboard after. Being able to help people who are going through the same things you went through a few years ago is a strange but comforting feeling. I know we go through certain things so that we can help others who will go through the same or similar.

SUNDAY, September 8th: M. came to church today, and we gave him a blessing that according to his faith he would be able to read better so that he can study the scriptures. He came to church in Halandri with us as well and started to try to read in the lobby. By the time sacrament meeting started, he came up to me as he was walking into the chapel. He was crying and clutching the Book of Mormon to his chest. He said, "I can read." It is pretty amazing to be part of one of those experiences. E. and M. from the whiteboards came to church! Elder Z. and I bore our testimonies, and I played “Come, Follow Me” as a musical number. Elder Z. and I went to have food with D.. G.G., and R. after church, and it was amazing. We smashed out a whiteboard in Syntagma after that.

MONDAY, September 9th: We are on our way to Hydra right now. We will be the first missionaries to ever step foot there!

I love you all. The church is true. The Atonement is the most important thing to ever occur and needs to be the center of our lives. I'm a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I know it. I live it. I love it. I know who I am. I know God's plan. And. I will follow Him in faith.

I love my mission.

Meetings

Monday, August 26, 2019

TUESDAY, August 20th: We had transfers and saw Elder F. off at the church as he headed to Cyprus. We taught S. with Elders Z. and H. We ate at Ancho's and then did a whiteboard in Kifissia.

WEDNESDAY, August 21st: We did street contacting. We went with M. to get her a new phone and had a strange gospel discussion at McDonald’s with her and two old guys. We had a lesson with R., and a very weird Australian tourist talked to us for a long time. But, the situation was also kind of sent by God to us and us to him. Weird.

THURSDAY, August 22nd: We had a ballin’ lesson with R. It was about the Law of Chastity, and he understood it super well. He even commented about how he should change the movies he watches. We ate Ancho's with Sister Rounds and the Elders Z. and H. and then did a whiteboard in Halandri. On our way back, we ran into the Thessalonica sisters on their way to spend the night with the sisters here before zone conference the next day.

FRIDAY, August 23rd: We had zone conference, and I gave my final testimony along with Elders Z., F., and N. We did a whiteboard in Kifissia after.

SATURDAY, August 24th: We met with K., and he gave me more going away presents—a limited edition AC/DC LetThere Be Rock record and an AC/DC shirt. I also had my final interview with President Anderson. We then had our dinner with him and Sister Anderson. It was cool and fun.

SUNDAY, August 25th: I conducted and presided at the Greek group in the center. It was weird doing everything by myself, including playing the piano. Elder J. was a champ and did both sacrament prayers by himself. Jimmer Fredette had his first Sunday in the English branch, so that was chill. People didn't know who he was, lol. We said goodbye to President and Sister Anderson for the last time and took pictures. We smashed out a whiteboard, and that was my day.

MONDAY, August 26th: We went to Loutraki and then ate lunch in Corinth.

Love you guys,

Elder Müller

Torture! This is as deep in the water
that missionaries are allowed to go into!
(For their safety)

It's getting real, folks. This young missionary will be coming home soon. He's taking good-bye pictures with other missionaries.

(How I wish I knew what was being said during these pictures that generated such laughter!)

Cool Week

Monday, August 19, 2019

Hey, guys! We had a good week this week.

TUESDAY, August 13th: We had district council about the Atonement of Jesus Christ. We had a whiteboard with the sisters in Peristeri. I had received a prompting a day or two before to place a new Restoration pamphlet in Greek in my backpack. I was able to talk with a guy for a bit and teach the Restoration. It was sick.

WEDNESDAY, August 14th: We helped a less-active member and saw S. at work. He's ballin’ but exhausted. He's worked two weeks without a day off. He works 12-hour shifts, and it takes over an hour to go to and from work. We did a whiteboard in Syntagma. I spoke with the most genuine and kind Jehovah's Witness I've ever met. He accepted a Book of Mormonand a Plan of Salvation pamphlet.

THURSDAY, August 15th: We had an awesome and spirit-filled lesson with A. The Campbells helped us out there--shout out to them! We went to Family Home Evening, and our friend who was supposed to come spent an hour and a half on the bus and metro trying to get there and arrived right as we left on the metro. :(

FRIDAY, August 16th: We had lunch with S. and the sisters. S.'s friend was supposed to come but got there an hour and a half late. So, we were long gone. We went to the mall and had a lesson with two people from a whiteboard. We met with R. and had a good lesson. We invited him to be baptized, and he said that he needs to have a testimony of Joseph Smith first. So, he's right on track with his understanding. We also received transfer calls, and Elder F. is heading to Larnaca, and Elder J. and I will be staying here. Oh, we had a whiteboard in Kifissia with the boys, and Elder Z. and I spoke with a friend I made a couple weeks ago. We talked for an hour about church and religion. It was good, but she kind of thinks we are whack now because we explained the Book of Mormon in a very rushed situation. And if the Spirit is not present while explaining the book, it's detrimental because it is a pretty crazy story to believe if the Spirit does not testify to your heart that it is true.

SATURDAY, August 17th: We saw S. at his work. We met with A., friend from the Wednesday whiteboard. We saw K., and he gave me records to take home as a going away present. He also gave us a projector and DVD player.

SUNDAY, August 18th: M., one of the people we met with at the mall, came to both the Greek group in the center and to the English branch in Halandri. She absolutely loved it and took her Book of Mormon home to show her grandma. We weren't too sure how well that would go over, and it didn't seem to go well seeing as her grandmother yelled at her when she saw the book... We had a meal appointment for Elder F. to say goodbye to our Congolese members, and that was the day.

MONDAY, August 19th: We are trying to get the projector to work, and all we need now is a DVD remote...

Love you, guys! The church is true; the book is blue.

Aegina

Aegina

TUESDAY, August 6th: We had district council and then online proselyting for a while. We had Ancho's for dinner with the boys and smashed out a whiteboard in Kifissia. A less-active member randomly called us and came to see us at the whiteboard. This was after going to the orthodox church on Sunday, lol.

WEDNESDAY, August 7th: We went to Zak's Chicken to visit S. A slightly tipsy Bulgarian Orthodox priest came up to us and wanted a Book of Mormon in Bulgarian, after we explained who we are. We went to a less-active member’s place and had a nice visit, and as we were on our way to the metro, we heard a "hey, elders" from somewhere. It was from a basement window. Turns out, a less-active member who moved to Athens recently from Africa lived there. He served a two-year mission in South Africa, lol. We had another conversation on the train back home with a guy who may have been an undercover Jehovah's Witness.

THURSDAY, August 8th: The Bulgarian priest flaked on us after confirming to meet only an hour before and asking us to come. We taught E. and conducted Family Home Evening. We had a game night, and it went well.

FRIDAY, August 9th: All of our investigators were busy or out of town. We did a lot of paperwork, transferring records from paper to the new app.

SATURDAY, August 10th: We got E. some medicine and had a good whiteboard in Syntagma.

SUNDAY, August 11th: We attended the group meeting in the center and had a whopping seven people, including our trio. We had a BBQ to celebrate some members’ birthdays.

MONDAY, August 12th: We are going to Aegina today, so that's fun! We got back in time to upload the pictures!

Love you all,

Elder Müller

Looks like the boys are all taking
pictures of their burgers!

The things you find when teaching!

Having fun, Elder F? :)

Making sure we can see every angle! :)

These are pictures from the trip to Aegina on Monday, the 12th. This is the ferry boat they took. It was about a 45 minute metro ride to the port, and the ferry ride was about a 60 to 80 minute ride!
